If you look at my resume you will see that every job I have conquered I have done without any experience. When I say 'conquered' I am referring to completing a task efficiently and all on my own, this a job that I had never done before. Now here is where that last sentence gets tricky. Looking back did I help a 6'2 bed bound elderly man find joy in his day? Did I administer dialysis to a patient that needed their blood cleaned? Did I comfort pre intra and post surgical patients and help with the coordination of reconstructive cancer cases? Did I throw some stilettos on and help a surgeon's newly independent practice become successful? Am I now building a community in hopes to inspire just one person along the way to adopt certain adventures in life? The answer to all of the above is, "Yes!" The oxymoron to all of that though is that 'I' didn't accomplish any of these task; a team did.
There has always been a team of different personnel walking right along side of me. We moved forward together to complete task and press on. Whether that be friends, family, neighbors, nannies or colleagues. Every team member counted! Things would come up along the way, as life has a way of doing this, where someone like myself jumps out of the line of people walking forward to change direction. Like many, I really had to figure out where I wanted to be, what kind of people I wanted to walk right along side and ultimately what impact I wanted to make on the lives of other people including my own family's. Mother Teresa said it best, "If you want to change the world go home and love your family." I hear this statement. However, there is truth behind the fact that we all love at different levels depending on how full our cup of love is. When full, we love exceptionally well. I needed to do something, other than solely be a stay at home mother, to tend to the passion on my heart of helping others.
I started Adopt Adventure after I resigned from my corporate job (and commute) to be more present around our home. My husband is a worker and business owner so for us it made sense that our careers needed to look a little different while raising our children. I needed to be available as the homemaker and mother. I also needed to keep my cup full to love exceptionally well on our home and the people in it. Again, teamwork makes the dream work! I am passionate about helping others, the Adopt Adventure community and the dreams that I hope to someday fulfill with this platform. Thank YOU for being here!
Finding team members
When I was ready to start diving into the work that Adopt Adventure would need to ultimately take me to my goals I became really overwhelmed. I was distracted by all of the directions I could go with things and I became curious about how/why/what things did or even were for that matter. Then one day it hit me! What was different about everything else I had conquered versus this adventure of building a platform? I did not have a team. Okay, well I had my husband who was and still is Adopt Adventure's biggest cheerleader but he is a blue collar man through and through. Simply put, he didn't know anything about the internet, social channels and network marketing. Being just one person who was trying to conquer something not yet created was a huge detriment to me. You can imagine how I felt as I was looking in the mirror standing alone wanting to build something that I had no experience in but a heart that was on fire! With this being said I felt called to find someone else who either understood or wanted to understand the territory that Adopt Adventure and I so badly needed.
Haley & chelsea connect
Naturally, I had been having small conversations here and there with someone that I originally met from Instagram about influencer online marketing. This someone is my sweet friend Haley! You can find her on Instagram @blushingwillows! Over time Haley and I shared our goals for our businesses and our whys as this was of utmost importance for both of us to get to know, understand and love each others dreams! This had to take place so we could be the encouragement and support system that each of us would need walking forward! Haley's passion and my passion about why we do things the way we do it is different and that is what makes us a great team! If you think about it, are you always on the same page as your partner, friend, parent, boss, etc? Life would be alot less boring and you would see that people would not be near as successful. Haley and I both have different backgrounds yet they are similar. We both have children, husbands, we grew up around the same time, we both have successful backgrounds in business, we've enjoyed some of the same hobbies. I bring this up about our past because I think it really sets the core tone on how we connect and handle things when corresponding about a specific project! After supporting one another for a few months and building trust there came a point where it started being natural that Haley's passion fed mine and vise versa! Very similar to any working relationship there are highs and lows. We both understand when something is really hard and also really exciting! It's so nice that we can be there to celebrate and also walk through the harder tasks at hand together!
All in all teamwork is of utmost importance with pretty much any task in life! Teamwork makes the dream work and for the sake of everyone who loves you too, be sure to find your tribe!
If you enjoy behind the scenes content be sure to leave a comment and let me know! If you have any questions please comment those too! I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you so much for reading this post and please go say, "Hi!" to my friend Haley if you haven't yet!
I hope this encourages just one person to feel a boost of courage to reach out and find their tribe if they haven't yet! Noone should ever feel alone because you aren't! Reach out - what do you have to lose?
